International Expansion Takes the Stage: London, Vienna, and the Support of WE-RISE

2026 has already been described, in this same blog, as the year QUIXOTIC opened the door to international growth. That statement stops being a plan and becomes a fact this November, when QUIXOTIC will be present at two of the most relevant energy industry events in Europe, in two cities that represent two different, equally strategic markets: London and Vienna.

Future of Utilities: Smart Energy in London, 2-3 November

On 2–3 November, QUIXOTIC will attend Future of Utilities: Smart Energy at Convene 133 Houndsditch, London, one of the reference events for utilities and energy retailers across the UK and Europe. This time, QUIXOTIC attends as a visitor, not an exhibitor. The goal is straightforward: sit in the room with the operators, regulators and technology providers shaping one of Europe’s most mature and fastest-moving energy retail markets, and start the conversations that will inform how QUIXOTIC approaches the UK.

The UK carries its own regulatory logic, its own switching dynamics, and its own pace of digitalization. Before any serious expansion decision, understanding that market properly: in person, through direct conversations rather than desk research, is the necessary first step. That’s exactly what this event is for.

ENLIT Europe in Vienna, 10-12 November

A week later, on 10–12 November, QUIXOTIC moves to Messe Wien for ENLIT Europe 2026, the continent’s largest gathering dedicated to the energy transition. Vienna puts QUIXOTIC in the same room as the DACH region and the wider Central European energy ecosystem, markets where QUIXOTIC already has a foothold, having started operations in Germany, alongside active prospecting in France, Italy and Portugal.

ENLIT is where that groundwork gets reinforced: distributors, retailers, regulators and technology partners from across the region, gathered in one place over three days. For a platform built to operate across multiple regulatory frameworks, this is precisely the kind of environment where the next round of partnerships and client relationships tends to start.

WE-RISE: the EU program funding this expansion

Attending two international events in the same month isn’t a marketing decision made in isolation. QUIXOTIC’s presence at both is backed by WE-RISE, a Horizon Europe program that supports women entrepreneurs leading GreenTech, AgriTech and ClimateTech startups, particularly those from emerging European economies.

Coordinated by FastTrack Ventures and backed by close to €2 million in EU funding, WE-RISE runs in two phases: Phase 1 selects 20 startups for a three-month intensive growth program, each receiving a €5,000 grant specifically earmarked to cover travel to exhibitions, fairs and investor meetings; the ten most promising ventures then advance to a second, larger acceleration phase.

QUIXOTIC was selected in Phase 1, through the participation of Paula Rúpolo Berach, cofounder and CGO of QUIXOTIC. It’s a concrete, practical form of support: the WE-RISE grant is what’s funding QUIXOTIC’s trip to both London and Vienna this November, turning a European program designed to back women-led green and sustainable ventures into direct runway for QUIXOTIC’s international push.

What this means for QUIXOTIC and for the sector

None of this happens in isolation. 2026 has already brought QUIXOTIC a spot in the INCIBE Emprende by Wayra cybersecurity acceleration program, following an €800,000 non-repayable grant from IDAE under the NextGenerationEU framework to scale automation and AI across the platform in 2025. WE-RISE fits the same pattern: public and private backing converging around the same roadmap, at the same moment QUIXOTIC is stepping outside Spain’s borders.

For a sector still largely dominated by legacy platforms and manual processes, the interesting part isn’t just that QUIXOTIC is attending two international events in one month — it’s what that says about how a modern, cloud-native energy retail platform scales: with institutional support, a clear technological foundation, and the deliberate intention to show up, in person, in the markets it wants to serve.

Make it happen with QUIXOTIC

London and Vienna are two stops, not a destination. QUIXOTIC’s international phase is just getting started, and events like Future of Utilities: Smart Energy and ENLIT Europe are where that story gets tested against the people actually running Europe’s energy retailers.
