The Bankinter Innovation Foundation and Wayra, Telefónica's corporate venture capital arm, together with Adigital as strategic partner, have announced the 12 companies taking part in the seventh edition of Scaleup Spain Network. QUIXOTIC is one of them.
The programme describes us as the technology platform that automates management, billing and operations for energy suppliers. In a cohort that spans AI, photonics, drones and payments, we are the only company focused on how energy suppliers run their operations.
What is Scaleup Spain Network?
Scaleup Spain Network supports startups that have already validated their business model and have market traction, at the point where the challenge shifts from finding customers to growing without breaking anything along the way.
How it works:
- A six-month programme, free of charge for founders and with no equity taken.
- An in-person bootcamp to kick things off, followed by online sessions on funding, internationalisation, leadership, talent and commercial expansion.
- Access to mentors, investors and large corporates across the Bankinter, Telefónica and Adigital ecosystems.
- Lifelong membership of the alumni network, which includes companies such as Capchase, Trucksters, Shakers and Webel.
Together, the programme's alumni have raised more than €1.2 billion in funding and created over 5,500 jobs. This year's call offered up to 15 places; 12 companies were ultimately selected.
Why this matters to an energy supplier
Choosing the system that runs contracting, DSO messaging and billing is not just another purchase. An energy supplier lives with that decision for years, and changing it carries a high operational cost.
So when the vendor is a young company, it is a fair question to ask: will they still be here, and able to support me, five years from now?
A selection like this does not answer that question on its own. But it does provide an external signal: a leading programme in the ecosystem has assessed our model, our traction and our team, and has chosen to back us through the scale-up phase. And the programme's focus areas match what affects our clients most day to day: a team with the capacity to support them, a product that keeps pace with regulatory change, and the strength to deliver on the roadmap.
A moment of growth, beyond Spain too
Today QUIXOTIC runs in production with more than one million supply points and clients in Spain and Germany. That growth has also been driven by the IDAE and EU funding behind our move into Europe.
November reflects that moment well. Alongside the programme's opening bootcamp, we will be at Future of Utilities: Smart Grids in London on 2 and 3 November, and at ENLIT Europe 2026 in Vienna from 10 to 12 November, in the Spain Pavilion (stand B.C80J). If you are attending either, we would love to meet you.
"We are joining Scaleup Spain Network with a product proven in production and more than one million supply points under management. The challenge now is a different one: growing across Europe without losing what sets us apart, which is staying close to every energy supplier and adapting quickly to regulation."
Omar Sequera, CEO and co-founder of QUIXOTIC.
The 12 companies in the seventh edition
Mettis AI, Aunoa, AlcyonPhotonics, AstroKube, Bookline, FuVeX, NeuronUP, Optimaria, QUIXOTIC, STEMDO, WelPay and Macadam. We share the cohort with teams working on road safety, customer service, cloud, hospitality, photonic circuits, infrastructure drones, cognitive assessment, energy supply management, tech talent, employee payments and fitness. Six months alongside founders facing the same scaling challenges from very different sectors.
What comes next
Over the coming months we will share what we learn on the programme, especially anything with a direct impact on how we work with energy suppliers.
